Howard Barndt, PE

Principal and Co-founder

Mr. Barndt has more than 22 years of professional experience covering a wide range of stormwater-related issues and challenges on various project types for both public and private sector clients.

While most of his experience has occurred in southern California, his reach has extended to projects located in central and northern California, Hawaii, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, New York, North Carolina, Baja California, and Kenya.  In California, his past efforts have been largely concentrated in the Counties of Riverside, Orange, Kern, Los Angeles, Ventura, Marin, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Imperial.

Technical guidance and oversight, due diligence and feasibility studies, master planning, preliminary and final engineering, construction plans and specifications, construction engineering support, comprehensive technical studies, advanced computer modeling, and engineering forensics+litigation support are among the general services Mr. Barndt provides to his clients.

His technical experience is highlighted by his extensive work in stream erosion, sedimentation, and stability studies, stream lateral migration and setback studies, comprehensive hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport modeling, including applications in calibration-validation and correlation.  He has also contributed substantially on projects involving dam breach and inundation, reservoir operations and enhanced water conservation, fish passage hydraulics, river-floodplain morphology, risk and uncertainty, levee interior drainage, hydromodification, alluvial fan flooding, debris flows, infiltration and transmission losses, flood frequency statistics as well as regional frequency analysis of various environmental parameters, applied fluvial geomorphology,  water availability analysis, urban drainage, water quality treatment best management practices, scour analysis, floodplain management, and the design of various hydraulic features, structures, facilities, and systems.
